SUPREME AND MM6 MAISON MARGIELA FOR SPRING 2024

Supreme New York, a skateboarding brand turned streetwear staple that has been around since 1994, taps into MM6 by Maison Margiela. Having collaborated with luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and Co., and many others, the official announcement was posted to Supreme's social media on March 26th 2024, a little over a month after rumours spread of the two fashion giants teaming up. The MM6 brand is a the diffusion line of the Maison Margiela brand. 

The collection combines the signature skatewear style with avant-garde elements. The 'Box Logo' tee makes a return with a unique all-over-graphic print. Unlike other collaborations in the past, this 'Box Logo' tee features a graphic print of a t-shirt. Alongside the tee, a hoodie is also included in the MM6 capsule. Collaborative MM6 branding can be found on the garment neck tags. 

Pieces within the Supreme and MM6 collection for Spring 2024 range from traditional graphic print apparel, to garments with avant-garde cut-and-sew tailoring. The clothing items include a long fur coat, a layered Hanes tank top, a reconstructed varsity jacket, or even a washed aged work jacket or vest. Some accessories seen are camp caps, receipt wallets, socks, or even a $1400 blonde wig. The collection fully encapsulates the avant-garde style of the Maison Margiela brand. 

With Supreme making moves within the streetwear and fashion industry, this begs the question. Does Supreme New York have what it takes to make a full comeback as the king of streetwear? Or is it way past its prime?
